Hi All
I have just joined TDA, after being invited by Aimilios last night. I must say, having looked through the forum messages and the web-site I think I have made the right choice!
I'm new to DaoC, having only played a couple of months. My char (Shanison) is a Thane and currently at lvl 25. I have been muddling my way through on my own all this time, so not sure if I have been following the right paths. I tend to get trained in sword and spells at the moment, but I have seen in-game msgs stating that hammer is better for Thane, due to strength. Any advice would be most welcome.
I look forward in meeting many of you in-game at some stage, although I only tend to get on-line a couple of hours at a time in the evenings, and I hope that I can contribute in some way to the guild. The suggested uniform looks good, so I will have a look into that.
Please bear with me if I don't appear to know all the terms, I may be a bit of an old timer (43!), but have only got into the realms of MMORPGs in the last couple of years (SWG before, but glad a made the switch!)
I live in Kent, UK.
Best wishes to all.
Shaun

Welcome. :) Another Thane is just what we needed, not many of us nutcases out there. Hope to meet you in a week or two when I return from my time away!

Welcome Shanison :D
There are several class discussion boards where you can search for information about thane specs. I can tell you that sword, axe and hammer are all 100% strength based, ie the damage will only increase as the strength increase. A reason to go hammer is that the styles costs less endurance, that's what I've heard atleast. I know nothing about the class but we got some thane experts in this guild, so you could ask them :)
Other than that you are welcome to ask me about anything else about the game, see you ingame. Nice to have you aboard :)
PS. On http://daoc.catacombs.com/cbuilder2.cfm?Thane you can build a spec for your thane at each level, but talk with some thane to get some advice on what to spec in. Oh and I've got to tell you that thanes will get a huge boost in next patch :)

Welcome aboard. Think we've got a few oldtimers allready. Won't mention any names, but know of atleast two other 40+ members. :D
(32 myself, so not exactly a youngling by daoc standards.)

Welcome to TDA mate :)

Hammer line is indeed best for its endurance (that is for now). In the future patches the hammer line will get boosted for thanes with additional procs and stuff. Making it really nice and pretty much the only choice then (at least if you go 50 hammer, which is where the real killer-adds will come).

(Edited as I had a bit of time to kill at work)
As I said in the earlier edit; you're very welcome!
Remember you get a free respec at level 20 and 40, so I think sticking to sword to level 40 would be best, if not the best damage-wise, and then /respec sword at your trainer before you ding 40.5... I might remember wrong, but I think those free respecs are only valid when you actually are level 20 or 40.
Anyway, glad to see you in the guild, and don't be afraid to ask questions! =)
