RP because you filter out alot of idiots who name their chars IownzU and stuff like that.

We've been playing on that server during the beta and it seems like a good community.

I see, I will roll something along with you and claim names. Unsure if I can focus the play on two servers in the first month though.  ;)

not only the names but RPserver tend to fend of the morons that tend to flock in unison to normal pvp servers

One silly thing. You don't seem to end up in the same group when entering a warfront as group. I keep on ending in different ones from my duo partner. Kinda silly.

Also seems impossible to organise groups over servers. So still easier to be on the same one. And what about open world pvp?

Me n Baba just did 4-5 bg's in a row, always ended up in same group. Tho heard the other day that, for some reason Doc was put in the other grp twice.

Ill let someone else answer the open world pvp, since i havent seen any.

Well if you guys are set on going on to a PvP RP server then me and my brother will sadly not join up. We don't like the PvP part, i'm sorry. Hope to see you in the battle grounds tho.

What is the real difference between these servers? I haven't seen any open world rvr yet. So when/where can you actually tell the difference?

I dont know 100% but notcied some things while playing the beta on firesand server.

You can be pvp flaged in the starting zone just by helping/healing a pvp flaged player. So i guess you can go in roaming enemy terrotory if you want to.
Then you have the zones when you automaticly become pvp flaged. No idea wich zones these are, I noticed i while swiming far off shore for a quest.

In conclusion, a pve server is what im looking for. Pvp and Pve seperate from each other.

Yeah, Ive had a similar experience, not really noticing the pvp in the lowest 20 ranks. So no big deal being on a pvp server?

So what kind of PvP is there on a PvE server?

Can you be attacked by others in all  zones on a PvP server?

Are there any PvP like in DAoC, a frontier where you fight over keeps etc?

What is the exact difference between a PvE and a PvP server in RIFT?

the "only" difference is that in contested zones (primarily lvl 25+) are for all races kinda like the frontiers, from DaoC. If you are on a PvE server you can turn the pvp off... that is the difference.
in short
PvE server = normal play
PvP server = stay awake so yo dont get killed
ipso facto PvP = more fun

from yesterday's forum browse i learned that there was yet no confirmation of the server's name.... that means we are not sure firesand will be there :)

if any official news is hitting us before thursday evening i guess we will make a new sticky post about the server we choose here, maybe put the info on our ventrillo as well or something :) so people looking for us will know where to go.

it was however more or less agreed that we would go for pvp / RP server..; english of course... so whatever the name of the server there should be not many choice amongst those ;)

So who is who on Firesand? And what lvl are you by now?

I think Firesand and Whitefall are tied together in warfronts. So might have seen some of you out there.

I currently play:

Nayna - Cleric - 41 - Whitefall.

When I ding 50, ill start something new either there or on some defiant server! :)

hey Nayna,

the bunch of us that started with head start are now around lvl 40+ we have been visiting and farming the pve dongeons every 5 levels, questing around and pvping so we get a good grip on the game.

those that started with officuial release (angrist, dub, rhayn, buuh...) are around 25ish i reckon

i am myself playing mainly a warrior called Galaad, and i also have Hanza the cleric lvl 20 ready for IT :P are u playing on guardian side ? just to know so we don t forget to /dance or /bow after tearing the head appart from the rest of your body ? :D

I found Lembit, who after ignoring me while in a dungeon invited me! :)

I tried /who for all names I could come up with! The system works, but you really need to know the exact wording you are looking for!

Now Im in doubt what to play there. I like the idea of both the rogue and the warrior! Trying out both until lvl 15+ to see what's more me atm! Since there is rested xp in this game, I can do that without losing speed on the eventual main anyway!
