Title: Origins: new adventure?
Post by: Artemisia on 09 July, 2008, 05:27:41 PM
Hello fellow tda's and fom's. Since i will not be able to play daoc until mid august, date expected for the launch of the new origins servers, i was wondering if it was worth to keep my US subscription running.
I will play origins only if we have enough members to create a strong guild. And if i don't have my friends playing it's not really worth of it :)

So please awnser this poll, post your expectations and desires about origins server. Let's see if TDA can write another chapter in DAOC story.

About the realm choice, i would really like to play alb, last realm i didn't really explore but will move with the majority i guess.

Eventho i can t say that i am not eager to run again some good guild group rvr with all of you guys, i m afraid i m done with daoc, since AoC seems good enough so far to keep me playing for a while.

I would be interested to look around the origins server.

But they only realm I would be intestested in playing is Alb.

Having good RvR groups in both Hib and Mid in the past to now, I have never really done that on Alb.

The few attempts we have had to play alb always seemed to go wrong.

So if enough play, will join that realm to look around, but to be more serious then it would have to be alb for me.

I would consider joining you guys if, and only if, AoC goes tits up and the core heads over to DAoC Classic.

Realm-wise I'd go for whatever realm the rest do.

But I consider myself through with DAoC, really. The revamp needed on the client is too thorough for me to believe Mythic would bother with WAR coming soon.

I agree with the revamp, can not see that happening, unless they wanted to relaunch.

I give the expample of UO, old game, shelved, but has had client revamp and made to work in 3D.

I don't think they can do much more with DAoC now, plenty of expansions and areas, hard to think what extra can be done.
Dragon campaign was nice and the next one should be good too.

But I do like the look of DAoC, same with AoC not kiddy nintendo graphics, like some other games.

I would consider coming along if the numbers justified it. Playing Alb is no problem, and wouldn't mind seeing what all this fuss is about OF (bit before my time! ;) )

Only bad thing with playing hibs is the run to emain.

I guess it will end up like it always did with problems with the par 4 behind the lake.  ;)

So for me, port > run, its why when I played hib I was in hadrians/odins more than emain.

Pretty much over for me I think. I've haven't even had much urge to play AoC even though it's a great game.

Starting university (most likely) in a 2 months so doubt there will be much time left for DAoC.

But remember, never say never.

Kiv, if you are going to stop DAoC for a while, let me "borrow" all your cash and rare items.  :P

Not looking good :( Most of people seems to have ditched daoc. Oh well.

Where is Dub??? We need someone to rally the troups!

Btw, big told me that myth /as was going to join the hib side. Just wanted to inform that.

(but if possible i would still go for alb ;P).

im definently going for origins , even if what i get is from 3-6 months on a 2k+ server that then dies  it will be better anything else im afraid 8)

after trying aoc im impressed with daoc!

anyhows , what realm doesnt matter much to me since there will be no savages , and with no ruleset its hard to point at good setups , figured id just go where big and aud was setting up the tipi :)

Salcin has given us a invitation to join MYTH alliance as hibbies. Those of us still playing on classic FOM seem to be up to the idea. What do you guys think ?

DUB! Salcin wanna talk to you bud....

Depending on how AoC turns out in july/august and when WAR is released I might create a luri enchanter on hib origin when it comes :) As it is now I feel AoC is kind of boring, and I hope WAR won't come until late nov/dec... but who knows.

The idea of the "old DAoC" (the thing where it all started, I had my first toons, yadda yadda... going sentimental... /cry ... ahem) is tempting, but I am REALLY REALLY slow in leveling and doing stuff, getting gear and whatsover and think the few hours I could dedicate to Origins wouldn't be enough to really get a char to 50 and stuff... so I can imagine myself visiting all the old places, do some sightseeing tours through the frontier, but that's about it.

I really like(d) DAoC but this really holds me back here. The toon I RvRed most with was my first lvl50 ever, my Druid. All three other lvl50 (yes, I only got 4*lvl50 chars in about 5 years playing DAoC  :'( ) were rised to 50, but weren't really used (due to Dyvet dieing, ok, bad luck - but also Jorub, my Friar, didn't really RvRed).

What I fear is: I put a lot of effort and time (from my PoV) into leveling a toon and when it's ready to do something the guild will move to WAR anyway. I mean... it's nearly August... just some months. Nobody(!) will care about DAoC (Origins) when WAR hits the shelves. Trust me.

I *might* reach lvl80 with my AoC toon (not using alts in any way, only doing just one char) to have a glimpse on AoC-PvP (we still have to gather stuff etc. pp) but I am really not sure about that, too.

Sorry for the sad words, but can't help it, it's how I feel about it.  :-[

Im going to try it but I really hope they boost the xp so you be lvl 50 very VERY fast.
No one goes to Origins for the PvE, Origins is all about PvP!   :)

Wonder if I ever get to lvl 80 in AoC so I can PvP, I play to little and are to slow...  :P
