Title: Daoc
Post by: Runolas on 01 March, 2014, 08:21:27 PM
Hi,

Very long time, but I was wondering if some of you still play DAOC on US servers? In the process although very late to transport my toons from Excalibur to the US servers. I have some 50 chars from an account I made 3 years ago, but did not feel the same as my original chars from excalibur, and basically stopped playing. Now my kid asking about doac, apperantly he remembered, was thinking why not. Better to play daoc with him than lego Star Wars in  the end :-).

regards

Rune aka Runolas (FoM)

Greets,

There is still a few of us on daoc.
We try and do stuff when enough on, othrrwise it tends to be stealthers.
Plus zergs often run and easy to get random group.

I am a little confused, have you transferred already?
If you did, was it the ywain server and are you fellowship of midgard? (The guild we use on usa servers)

Players keep popping in and out of the game, so worth you trying again.
The game is all rvr now, so leveling etc and artis/dragon stuff is quick.
Glen holds the record for us. Level 50 plus template in 6 hours.

Depending how many account you have already. But use usa account for kid, reactivate your eu for you.

Also, how old is your kid, i have girlfriends son playing. He is 10, loves the game.

Only issue is to make sure the swear filter is on.

Hi

I started 1 account on US servers 3-4 years ago and took 2-3 chars to 50. I think some are in FoM. The 2 accounts I had on Excalibur I have not transferred yet. Did not have the deltails for them, but have received just today. Thus, in total I have 3 accounts. Need however to buy a gaming lap top - will order on monday. My main char is Runolas the Shadowblade thus stealthing is ok for me. My group char is mainly Runoir a PAC healer, but have several others to pick from - think in total 10 if I'm not mistaken.

My son will ding 8 years in October.

So means that the guild FoM still is alive on Ywain?

There is a flicker of a pulse of FoM on DAoC.  ;)

There is a core die hard members, myself, Glen, Guten, Audhild etc.
But not enough to run fixed groups, even though there is not a lot of 8v8 anymore.
A few leet groups roaming. Fun is in the zerg for the casual player.

But I suggest you do what I sort of did. Give your USA account to your son.
Then reactivate your EU accounts for yourself.
I did same sort of thing with Josh.

As for your EU accounts, don't forget your login name will be username_EU
Ywain server number only matters for housing zone.

See you in game soon, try and let me know when you can log on, even if I can not play then, can try and get someone else to help out.

Good to hear. Guten, Killrake and Audhild I know :-) .

I really miss the RvR in daoc. I was average in my playstyle both in group and with my SB thus less leet RvR environment works for me. Really miss the inc alb zwerg :-).Tried to find figur out numbers of online, but could not find - how many are there? Is it still possible to run solo SB?

PS! What made me look into daoc again was actually a guild picture i saw in a Youtube movie that bumped into. Brought back some very good memories from 10-12 years ago to the guild I was a co-founder for. The guild name I suggested, although for lack of imagination at the time.

You can run a solo SB, but you will run into a lot of duo to fg of stealthers.

i spend my time between fellowship of midgard with my thane and fellowship of albion with my 'slightly more powerfull characters' i have from the excalibur time.

everybody with an inactive acount can try it out in a free 7 day trial.  whenever an acount has been inactive for 60 days, you get that free 7 days.  also if you never played it or cant remember the account info, you can just download the client and play it for free for 14 days.  continuing to play after those 14 days just costs you the subscription.  you no longer have to buy the game to play it.  download it, play for 14 days, after that pay subscription.  kinda the opposite of GW2 where you buy the game and then play for 'free'.

(re)starting these days is quick and simple.  10 hours for a level 1-50 + getting decent equipment is far from exceptional.  things like ml's, artefacts (and their credit and scrolls) and all that can be bought with a TOA currency (glass) that is relatively easy to obtain and which a lot of us have a decent amount to spare (it's tradable).

Just small update…

I have transferred all chars from excalibur on both my accounts. The US account is still dead fro now. Most chars have been invited to FoM, but still some blind spots that I will fix so you can see that I’m online.

I play every week, since March now, and had a real blast in Molvik. I have a Skald (Runoskald) that I have spend most my time on, but also leveled out Healer, Shaman, Zerker, Thane , BD and SM to 39. I also have some other chars on the way that are 24 for Thidranki, but find this BG a little boring compared to Molvik.

As for the 50 toons I have hardly played them, but I have 2xSB, Healer, Shaman, SM, RM and Warrior. The template is the main issue and since I have had so much fun in Molvik I have not looked further anyway.

If anyone are interested in running some FoM grps in Molvik from time to time it would be great. In my experience 3-4 man teams work great here. I have most chars to support building a group and with time could level out the support toons needed also for the NNF.

Anyway really happy to play daoc again and my son also really loves it altough he likes to play them hibbies more :-).

Wha', huh!? I'm going to have to download, now, I think!

I miss DAoC, but I don't think I'd be able to convince myself to pay a subscription for it. One week ever other month of Thid/Molvik action could be nice, though. Or, unless it's the master account that counts, more like every other week over my four accounts...

Delay:
Molvik is still fun.
Also, with the new BG quests, you can get all the kit you need with Bounty Points and easy quests to get them.
Then just buy all the items and have a good template.

Runolas:
Now you said about your son, I see why you come mid so late. :)
Not sure if I have time for Molvik, plus the doppel quests just take up all the time.
Makes good action for SB/Hunters.

Dennis...very long time...

I really miss the FoM time from 10 years ago - was a fantastic time, although I understand that today with family life would be impossible. It was actuallt after passing Borås on a business trip I decided to find out if daoc was dead or not. Then I was surprised to find out that it was not and that still some hard core ppl was still left.

Now I try to get back in again :-), but need to get more into the details again before joining the "stealther crew". I will do it, but for the moment I hang out in Molvik.

Come to speak of it would fantastic to take a beer some time again. I travel to Sweden more or less every week.

Btw...try it out Dennis

Just another question, is anyone running with Ventrillo for daoc?

If you pass through Borås again and have time for a pitstop you're more then welcome to drop by for a cup of coffee and a chat. I'm sure Glenn wouldn't mind to join in on such an occasion aswell.

As for ventrilo there's now a teamspeak 3 up n running that we use for all our chatting. Contact details is on the forum with links for download and all.

If you need to get in touch you can just drop me a pm here or find me on FB for instance : Dennis Ohlson, think you'll see which Dennis it is to add ;)

Hi Run,

Just to let you know for DAoC we tend to use skype.
We find it easier to see if people are online or not, rather than hanging around in TS.
If they are online, they are usually playing DAoC.

We do use it now and then, but skype just seems easier.
