Forsaken world looked promissing from a grafics PoV, was it really that bad ?

Bloodline Champions for some quick fun. Also DotA-like, but faster rounds (usually mode is deathmatch, winner of three rounds). Nothing for you if you don't like the (simple) arena only thingie.

Lunie and I played vindictus and got bored fairly fast, and now playing some dragons nest. its made by the same, the gfx of DN is kinda meh, but the mechanics are ok and the game play is good and its in a real fantasy setting.

I started to play Vindictus Online. So far I am busy with the starter quests. First levels were easy, the newbie stuff you can get makes fighting easy in normal mode. When I feel more confident about some tactics and stuff I'll probably switch to harder modes. I like the magic shield plus dodging/hit-and-run abilities of the char (went for the mage type as there was an event going on when I started). Graphics looks nice, too.
Doesn't give the "serious" MMORPG feeling so far - and I didn't test PvP aspects and so on yet. Will see how it goes.

Tenz, you are so sexy it hurts! I've rolled a toon on imladris, named Gont! Waiting for a reply from Feit, however, Landroval is a really good server. It's RP, but in lotro, surely that's better than your usual mong server, no? Am Othium on landroval. Either way, would good to hook up with you guys.

Sorry for late reply Gont, but we are on imraldris, im not that active this week (that is to say not on at all) cause of work both here in norway and in New Zeland. so i kinda have to sleep in between work here and work in New Zeland. so all the spare time i have this week is well sleeping.
I am going to be online on Sunday. We could start up a toon or something together if ur still interested.

Hi there fella. Glad to hear you are still about, if only in spirit atm. I've rerolled and am currently leveling a Warden, named Gont! I hooked up with Tenzor last night, although I wouldn't dare log into the Voice software for fear that he'd make me laugh and get me killed! Just to be clear, I want the Undying title, so I can't die before level 20. Looking forward to catching up some time next week.
Otherwise, I'm rather enjoying lotro. Has to be one of the best PvE games around. I don't have much experience of the PvP, but hey, it's not that kinda game is it?

Even though I like Oblivion I'll toss in my comments on pros and cons in Skyrim :P Keep in mind I play on PC, so some issues may not be applicable to consoles...
* Skyrim has good graphics. It's not that it's completely stunning, but with a far draw distance (items, objects, actors), you will get really nice landscapes. * The crafting system isn't overly advanced, but seems rather well executed to me. Animations in the background while you craft! * Wildlife is present, though not perfect (deer and foxes let you come way too near). * The combat system is rather good - the most annoying thing about it for me is when I perform a power attack, then release the attack button and press it again to perform another attack, the game simply does not register it as a new click -- it seems I have to wait until the previous attack has been completed before the game will accept next click on attack button. Can be frustrating when you are in a tough fight and want to keep power-attacking as fast as possible. * The user interface doesn't adjust to any keys you might have rebound (like swapping the buttons for POV/sheath weapon), and the buttons are reused in many menus, so it can get a bit confusing, like dropping weapons when you try to favorite them, etc). * The map is 3D - instead of the 2D maps from Morrowind/Oblivion (no mini-map/radar) * Not as many "open" quests as in Oblivion and Morrowind. What I mean is: there are not [as many/any] quests where there is no map pointer and you have to find clues or locations yourself from examining the text in books, etc. * You pause the game when bringing up the Steam UI, so there's no chatting while running from A to B to pass time. For someone that prefers not to use fast-travel, this can be a bit annoying/boring.

arguably, you don't need to buy anything. You do pick up turbine points as you go and they can be used to buy the essentials, such as the riding skill. However, with a basic account you have a number of disadvantages. these include things like slower logging in, limited classes (don't get the Warden or the Runekeeper), limited bag/bank/sharedbank space, only two character slots and a limit on how much gold you can have. Furthermore, you wont have access to all of the zones in the game, which wont matter from the outset, but will once you hit about level 20, this might become a problem.
A good way to get all the stuff is to pay for a monthly account. this will unlock a lot of features, give you 500 turbine points per month free up a number of limitations. Another is to buy the Moria expac, which would give all the content up until Moria and unlock the warden and runekeeper. However, this will set you back about £40 (approx 50 euros?).

Hmm. Sounds like a pain. I'll try the free version to check if I like it enough. Unless there is some TDA'r with an old account that is unused? I assume these accounts have more options open, even if not payed for atm?

Hm, I am still playing Vindictus.
It's fast-paced and the quest/mission system makes it kinda easy to login for just a few quick rounds if you aren't planning to play all evening/night. Player base is good, joining a party is easy. There IS kind of a "boredom phase" until you get the first real hard missions and some more/different skills under your belt. Playing an Evie (mage/ranged type character) is not really challenging, when you can easily kill everything from a distance just by spamming 1-3 skill buttons. ::)
However, if the mobs become stronger, faster and get some nasty long range attacks and almost unpredictable moves, coupled with better AI and well timed/aimed follow up attacks... everything changes. Throw in some insane amount of health - I already saw some with 10x the normal HP and I bet that number will raise. As a cloth/light armor wearer it needs like 1 good hit to destroy my magic shields and a 2nd one to bring me below 50%HP, if it is a crit/double attack it might as well be <10%. Being incapacitated after a strong hit (read: you lay on the ground and can't move) doesn't really help in such situations. Playing in (good) groups becomes more and more important.
Secondary weapons like chain hooks to keep monsters at one place or some alchemy to root them become more important. Slow casting magic, that can freeze bosses for a short amount of time, health regen spells, attack buffs, spears, bombs, using the environmental weapons (in case you don't know the game - you can throw rocks and stuff if you are strong enough to lift them) becomes more important and lots of that stuff becomes available in later levels. I am lvl40 now... looking forward to lvl42 where I can learn a spell to create a golem to fight for me.
There are lot's of gold sellers around but you don't need their gold. It's easy enough to get your own stuff to keep you going.
BTW - I saw a char named "Cremisi_Blodwen" playing there... does that ring a bell?

but "the secret world" is also coming. it s a gothic environement fantasy /futuristic mix and it really look like a blast... i mean, when i read the coments about SWTOR grafix and when i see the screen shoot there (http://www.thesecretworld.com/) no question....
it will be out in a few month, beta is just starting, and Funcom ain t noobs at MMO...

Surprise... my daughter asked me about Argo Online some days ago. They even have commercials in TV atm - maybe that's why the interest? Or the story / setting? Steampunk vs. fantasy? Anyway... had to install it and did the starter quests. Not sure how often I'll play it, though.

new expansion for X3: Terran Conflict in 3 days (the 15th) :-) a nice warmup before the next X game comes out next year. Free for me since I already have the "Superbox" edition of the X-series.. weeee

Well, I had to go with the fantasy side (Floresslah or whatever the tree-hugger are called ;) ). Tried the steampunk side for the starter quests and it's almost the same.
I am still lvl8 only as I am waiting for my daughter to catch up... but thinking ov leveling to lvl10 and start a profession.
Atm I don't really care how good/bad the game is... the basic elements you'll find in any MMORPG are there and that's prolly enough to give that 1st impression my daughter is after. Can always find another/better in case she's really interested.

some cool info just got released about secret world:
for now all they showed was this "no class no level" freedom thing... now they are coming with this "deck" idea" pre selected combination of skills to give the player some ideas. at the moment there is 10 decks per secret society (30 decks alltogether)

have to say that there is no much information yet released... they are making this secret world really ... hum... secret.
on the official website there is not much, i found a bit more info on games magazine/ web site/ forums
but i recieve the news letter and follow up closely, so i ll probably keep the good TDA peeps in the loop :)

Remember GW1 has a entirely different game system/experience, they will make GW2 more like a "real" MMO (DAoC) and you will be able to jump. heh the no jump in GW1 made me insane!

Stumbled about it some days ago... Arena "PvP" type game with some silly classes. Looks like a game for some beer&crisps fun inbetween. Maybe try it while looking for something real?

@Adoctor No idea, what you are after, but if it doesn't have to be PvP... try Vindictus :D - gfx is great - fights are different from your standard MMORPG: attacks go in the direction your char faces and you use chains rather than having to press 10+ different keys. Also you can dodge / avoid a lot of the enemy-attacks if you know how - starting and getting first levels is easy - if you are good in movement and reaction things really start to get interesting at lvl50, when you can play HERO mode missions, which are really a challenge. - it's free to play, although there are some items in the cash shop worth the money if you are really into it. - the fluid combat system really makes it interesting and especially in the lower levels it's fun to follow the story line, too.

What I found lately and started today is Dragon Nest. I saw in some videos, that dodging works the same way as in GW2, so maybe I can use this game to get used to double-tap-evade ;)

Dragon Nest gameplay of their newest class: Engineer rifle/turret plus some robot friend. Have a look:
I played the first 5 levels with a warrior and it's a grind game so far... then tried my own Academic and it's fun. Just watch the copter animation for the dodge move. Yay! ;)

Hm, must have missed that. Saw that video and gave it a try ;)
And yes... it IS "kiddy"-looking, but it seems to be more fluid than others when it comes to fighting, although mobs in the first few levels are rather slow.

Picking up D3 on my way home! ;D Going to be hard to pick what to do tonight. Currently 58.2 in TERA (cap is 60). From 60 the real pvp can start! But D3 is well, D3!!

So far, the combat system is quite good. The pvp is very limited while people are leveling. If you go outlaw, everyone else will just jump on you. So it's not smart to do so while lvling. I'll let you know once I get some real pvp.
But without any battlegrounds and not much endgame content, it might be like every other game the last two years. A fun rush but lacking in many parts once you reach max level! All there is now is hardmode dungeon farming and GvG (which my guild is too small for, we'll kill a bunch, but then get zerged down)!

BTW the stress test was suprisingly smooth, almost too smooth! 8). The game is at the stage where: if they had all content rdy (as i believe they do), the game could be released very soon. The game is more polished and feels more done then most released MMO's we have played ever since ... ever heh. So to sum up:
Could release with in a month .. but dono, just what I see, no evidence or anything .. just pure speculation :)

Every launch I've had seemed 'smooth enough' but it always ended in a bad experience once you hit max level. So I hope they are looking into that factor before launch as well.
No matter how good it all looks, if you end up with nothing to do but farm a few dungeons at max level, you'll get bored really really soon.
It has been like that with SW-ToR and TERA also seems to be heading that way, even though that game has been out in Korea for over a year...

Well... I think they go for the WvWvW and PvP arena thingie for high end content first. And since I like to explore stuff if it's well done I think I can stay in PvE for a while without feeling bad about the farming thingie.

Blizzard don't give no shit about players, they know we will buy their games and updates, cause it is D3. Just like WoW they take a nice concept and water it down.
