Dear all,
I'm not getting the time I'd like to play games anymore, largely because work is taking over my life. You get single and suddenly work moves in like a nasty bastard and gobbles up that free time. Bah!
I've been looking for a game that caters for a casual like me and may even, shock horror, provide a good forum for a bit of roleplay. I've been checking out videos and info on Black Desert Online and am surprised that people haven't given it a look. It's a sandbox, huge world, end game is largely crafting and pvp (including guild versus guild). It does have PvE and by all account is a bit grindy, but by gosh it looks good.
Anyways, I think I might preorder it. It's launched on March 3rd, in case you're wondering. If anyone else is playing it, then please let me know. It seems perfect for a dip in dip out player like me. Oh, how I wish I had the time to raid! Anyways, hope you are all well and good.

I might give it a go purely for a pve and watching the scenery experience. Its just 30 euro's and then free to play right?
The pvp looks very Korean, gear based to the insane..
Going out to capture my own horse sounds like fun though!

So I pre-ordered and had a look at the name reservation. You HAVE to pick a family name. Which will be shown everywhere? That is kinda annoying.. And I don't know of any nice family name I want all my characters to have...

Edit: For the time being I picked Darwin, you can change the name later. But tbh, what would fit all the different toons anyway?

I preordered and, like the sap I am, went for the expensive version. Kinda figured that I'd use the money I would have spent taking the ex out on Valentine's day lol. Free game in my mind. Family name - Morranza. Reserved char name Gont. Excellent. I shall be in the earliest wave of the soft launch, but we all know how slow I am to level anyways...

Decided to change my family to Gont. And my reserve character name to, well, Gont. It worked. Puz, you could be family name Puz, char name Puz and then have Nayna Puz as an alt. Simples >.<

Like a guild tag if memory serves. Also, your family name is how your guild will know you I believe. Hence changing mine to Gont. It doesn't matter what alt you are on, they will see you by the FN.

Got a beta invite so tested around the classes and combat generaly so far didnt go much into other stuff! How do you mean three seven day passes? xD

I preordered - you get a certain number of 7 day passes to give to people. However, I didn't play the beta due to the cash shop being a clear money grab. Basic stuff that you need (pets for example) are stupidly expensive. Well, everything is stupidly expensive. They have a terms and services clause that if you play the beta, you can't get a refund too 0.o. I'm pretty sure that's bullshit, but didn't want to risk it. I'm waiting to see how the whole argument about the cash shop pans out. if it stay as it is - a blatant cash grab in a B2P game - then I will be asking for my moneyz back.

FYI - there is talk about the game becoming more and more PTW. Cash shop items give stats and cost A LOT. Pets and outfits give stats and cost - just the upgraded pets cost like $160. Mounts take a tone of time to make but can be bought from the cash shop for $20. The debate about the cash shop is onging. A lot of people are trying to get refunds based on the info you've mentioned above Tenz: basically saying the product they are now reciving is not that which was initially advertised. There are also issues with the cash shop prices and how they are effectively the same as the F2P versions, yet we B2P. I've tried getting a refund and they are saying because I downloaded the game (but didn't play the beta) I have waived my right to a refund. This is of course BS under EU law, but I'm currently wondering if I should play or not. At the minute, I'm keeping an eye on the cash shop thread:
So far they have said nothing since the beta. Make of that what you will.

My refund came through. Good. They still haven't made an announcement re the cash shop after 3k posts - the soft launch is tomorrow. Well, that's me out and it's very much looking like pay to win. Shame, it looks like a good game otherwise. Ah well, going to play a bit of GW2 and maybe give the division a look.

I have decided to keep my account and give the game a try 'on the side'. Figured that it does look pretty, could give me some time to get used to my orbweaver and if I play > 6h it would be cheaper than going to the cinema! :o
Thus I won't go hardcore pvp there, which seems impossible anyway. ;) I don't have that much time!

Ill try and hop on there as well then. For as far as I understand it, all those names, Velia etc, are towns or clusters all under the server Alustin. Let's hope Im right. I'll be on TS and my family name is Puz. Will try and contact you ingame once Im in!

So, my experience so far. I've only played for a few hours. Got up to lvl 20, mostly by just accepting quests and letting the game move me around. Grinding mobs is faster, but damn that numbs the brain.
I would like to try this as duo or more sometime. Think the game has potential, but without mates I'm not really getting into it yet.
I will be in gw2 pvp a bit, so when anyone wants to play BDO, check ts! :)

who is playing where? any recommandation on class / spec?

I am on Jordine, only just starting. Leo is there as well. Bat is apparently around, but not sure where.
Dont rush stuff and make sure you get an idea of node management and what spec to go for. Or you'll be digging through info a lot while in game :)

So, we seem to be split on servers. I don't mind playing either server, since I have roughly the same lvl sorc on both atm! So I'll leave it up to Bat/Leo! 8)

same, just started yesterday and i must say i am quite amased by the game so far... its breathtaking. deep and complex interactive entertaining... well, anything i haven t seen in a long time in an MMO.
i made it up to level 10yesterday, i wouldn t mind some cool team play from time to time so i guess i could reroll on any server if we decide to regroup our TDA pieces somewhere ;)

From my pov there is no difference between the servers right now. But I do think it would be wise to build up a family on the server you want to play on in the future. So if you would make the blader on Alustine, then I would suggest rolling there now. That way you can find items, mounts and cash and have them ready for your blader!
So my vote goes for Bat's server (also because my sorceress is named Nayna there 8) )!

well, im lvl 13 and haven t retrieve my bonus pack yet so i guess we can reroll on Bat's server. and settle there. if we have some of the Ascenssion guys we can even maybe have our own little guild ?
I ve heard Bats server is tagged as Ze german server.... ach ach the freman under cover will surely shine there :)

Sounds good, sorc seems to be a grinding beast at least. I outpaced wizards and rangers on the naga's! 8)
Be careful not to 'waste' points at the start so you are set for aoe grinding asap.
1. Claws of Darkness > Dark Flame. 2. Sinister Energy 1+2 > Absolute Darkness 1 > Black Wave 3. Shards of Darkness (to regain mana, spam it at cap, even in fights) 4. Flow of Darkness (although once you get the hang of it, mana isnt a problem atm)
I also have Shield of Darkness, but it often runs out without me renewing, so its no absolute must.

I can't work out where everyone is. Seems we have about 6 playing, but not together. I've stopped and gone back to GW2, with a little of ESO. If I knew where we were going to be I'd stick at it. Soz I'm not very helpful, ask Erebird, Puz, Hanza and possibly Gont.

got a guild running with a few archeage ascension members :) www.shadowlegion.co.uk dont really use the forum just write that you are recommended by me or something. Its only so that the guildleader knows who comes into the guild. other then that, just whisper Coy. But need to be in same channel, we are mostly in Balenos A2 but try to pm me if not :)
