Something typical as in for tourists in CPH?

There's always Tivoli (https://www.tivoli.dk/en/) or Christania (http://www.visitdenmark.fr/fr/denmark/christiania-gdk957761).

If you're one of those artsy fellas, there's Louisiana (https://en.louisiana.dk/), Glyptoteket (http://www.glyptoteket.com/) or Arken (http://uk.arken.dk/).

NSFW! The little mermaid (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eDV9zMJnnbc/VohfA-WBvhI/AAAAAAAAuMg/kM9Q4_cZEk0/s1600/havfrue%2Bhappening%2B2.jpg) is silly! Don't even bother. (It's faster to google it, and it's approximately the same experience)

Nyhavn (http://www.nyhavn.com/) is a lovely place to grab a bite or a few cold ones, it's a bit pricey though. But to be fair everything is pricey in Copenhagen.
You can also get the danish traditional food known as smørrebrød (https://naoshi.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/deal_image/95302/image/default_default_haven_002.JPG) here.

There's also all the castles if you're into that kind of stuff.
Amalienborg slot (http://www.visitcopenhagen.com/copenhagen/schloss-amalienborg-gdk492887)
Rosenborg slot (http://www.visitcopenhagen.com/copenhagen/rosenborg-castle-gdk410582)
Kronborg slot (http://www.visitcopenhagen.com/copenhagen/kronborg-castle-gdk476685)
Frederiksborg slot (http://www.visitcopenhagen.com/copenhagen/frederiksborg-castle-gdk424103)
And ofc. Christianborg (http://www.visitcopenhagen.com/copenhagen/christiansborg-palace-gdk420896).

There's a plethora of cool cafés and restaurants. Let me know what your price range is and i'll try to gather a list.

I've always liked Christania and the surounding area called Christianshavn (http://www.dailynewsservice.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/today-in-christianshavn-copenhagen-34604.jpg).
I'd recommend Tivoli for first time tourist tbh. Hell i even go there myself sometimes.
One of my favourite cafés in the heart of Copenhagen is Bankeråt (http://www.bankeraat.dk/). If you for some reason dislike stuffed animals  don't go there.

But let me know what you're interested in and i might be able to give better advice. :)

Østerbro is fine. Not my favourite "bro" but you should have no problem at all getting to and from there with public transport.

Keep in mind that the 1st of may aka. May day aka. international workers' day aka. Labour day is very much celebrated in copenhagen. However International workers' day roughly translates to the danes as get absolutely pissed day. So you might as well expect a fair amount of very drunk danes. :)

thx a lot mate, i ll have a look at all those.

Ofc i am into castle and stuff, specially if you dam vikings still have some siege equipment lying around ;)
is there any place you are performing nowadays, because a real local typical stuff would be to see you live. and from the musical taste of the guy who has Bday i m pretty sure he would like it.

i ll check with Jazzy and see if we can grab a beer all together! loking forward to it already

I don't play many gigs these days. and if i land a job in copenhagen it's usually a wedding or something like that which would require an invitation.
Vikings weren't really known for castles. Our christian kings build those.
If you want to see viking stuff you should go to Roskilde, it's about 30 mins by train from CPH.
The Viking ship museum (http://www.vikingeskibsmuseet.dk/en/)
Roskilde is one of the oldest danish cities, it was founded during the viking era, and served as the danish capital from sometime in the 11th century until 1443.

Or maybe Lejre (http://www.sagnlandet.dk/en/).

If you decide to go to Roskilde it's also worth visiting the Cathedral (http://visit.roskildedomkirke.dk/english/explore-the-cathedral/).

Afaik Hanza already knows all there is to know about Germany, there's really no need to visit the most nothern part of Germany it's mostly farms and rednecks anyway. ;)

/hijack mode on

I'll be in Copenhagen at the end of August. We'll do a lil' Tourist/Sightseeing tour with the main goal to bring my daughter to Aalborg, where she'll spend a Semester abroad starting on September 1st.

I am late with planning this, RL interfered, shit happens, yadda yadda... :/

So when my daughter gets questions like "what did you see from Denmark already" - what would be a MUST HAVE?

So far my "round trip" route idea roughly is Copenhagen --> Esbjerg --> Aalborg. Thinking of around 2 weeks in total. Basic idea is to limit total driving time to around 3hrs a day, find a nice place to stay, do some Sightseeing and relax.

Any recommendations welcome, including tips for accomodation. Hint: my two fellas will NOT stay in a 8-man shared youth hostel like room or an ancient wooden cabin in the woods. I know, that this limits the choice to the more expensive Hotels/rooms and that's ok this time.

Change of plans. We (read: my wife) want to go to Aalborg 1st and unload my daughters stuff. We have to pay her room in August anyway as I learned yesterday. Re-arranging everything atm. I'll contact you when I know, when we will be near your place.

*sigh* /em hates those short-term changes

Sorry about not getting back to you Jor. I completely forgot. My post above still aplies. If the weather is nice you could grab a canal/harbour tour from Nyhavn and see the city from there.

In regards to accomodation i really don't know. Never checked in to a hotel in copenhagen. :) But as long as you're staying on one of either Østerbro, vesterbro, Nørrebro, Christianshavn,  frederiksberg  or cph K.  you can get around fairly easy either with bus or metro. Taxis are rather expensive.

Hey Fizzle! ;)
np mate - accomodation is sorted, we stay at the Airport Zleep hotel. Most of the other hotels had no rooms left or were too expensive.

I am not really happy with the Location, but it's just 4 days and we'll use it just to grab some sleep, so mjeh. Breakfast is expensive there with 12EUR and they don't offer gluten free stuff, which is important for my wife. So I am looking for a nice place to have a good (and cheaper) breakfast outside of the Hotel.

We'll manage ;)

24 raw in pilestræde does Glutenfree brunch according to their website. I dont know the place. It's in center of town. Not sure how long it will take you guys to get there from the hotel. You should have a metro station fairly close.

Their brunch is 129 kr. Which is rather standard in Cph. It's an expensive city. Apaarently you need to call them the day before for glutenfe´ree brunch.

http://rawrustic.dk/ Should have glutenfree sandwiches and some other stuff. it's faily cheap

Hehe, yes, I noticed that last year already. Just buying "normal" stuff in the supermarket is comparable to Germany. Also Diesel Prices are not that different for example. Go to a decent looking Restaurant or try to book a Hotel room - this is where Denmark is really expensive.

Thanks for the recommendations - I'll probably surprise my wife with that ;)

Not a recommendation per se, as i've never been there. Just thought i'd help finding some gluten free cafés. Proved harder than i thought, but i've never had problems with gluten so not really my field of expertise. :)

Yeah and I really appreciate your advice! We'll carry some of her stuff with us anyway - just in case. Everything will be fine.
