Title: Denmark
Post by: Joric on 16 August, 2016, 09:42:30 AM
So we'll start our tour in a few days. Since we are not only going to Copenhagen I thought I start a new thread. We start in Aalborg (friday-monday), short stop in Odense for one day, then Copenhagen (24.-28.8.), Vildbjerg (/wave @Tenzor), then Aalborg again.

Is there any semi-reliable Long term weather forecast you can recommend? I am fine with a Jeans and a T-Shirt, but my wife and my daugher started to pack THEIR stuff and you know, Girl and clothes.... ;)

If you got some free time and want to meet for a beer/coffee etc. - gimme a holler ;)

From DMI, not always to be relied upon, but it's the one I use. Can change city in the top left field.

Afaik the Norwegian YR.no is used by most here with a professional interest in forecasts.

Not very promising I'm afraid. Been a crap summer so far up here.

In addition to Yr, you can try the other Norwegian weather service, Storm (http://www.storm.no/). No idea of their reliability, though, I always use Yr.

Thx :D I was kinda hoping, that the weather forecast services I normally use in Germany would lie or at least be inaccurate. *sigh* Silly, I know.

Everything is fine - I was able to fit all the stuff into my car and now we just cross fingers, that we don't get too many rainy days.

What's wrong with the eastern part of Denmark?

Odense - bedbugs. Not funny. I mean bedbugs - seriously? This is vermin and not a joke.

Copenhagen - ordered a triple room. Got a double room and a mattress lying on the ground. When I complained, the receptionist said they never had triple rooms and offered to move us to a family room. I don't have to sleep on the ground now... but 2 of the 4 beds are childs beds. When I complained again they said, that the beds are big enough for 4 adults. Are you danes dwarfes? Mattress is 165x75cm max.!! This. Is. Cheating!

And why the .... can't I get a full tank at a Petrol Station? It stops to fill in Diesel at about 75%. Same Story in Aalborg and Odense. WTF?

:/

I know nothing about refueling, but the other things sounds like bad luck, bad service and reasons for bad reviews on whatever travel recommendation sites are used these days :/

Hope your luck improves promptly!

I could talk the receptionist into giving me a folding bed. She said there might be a few left "from the old days". Slept much better.

There is a Street Food (Festival?) at Amager beach in Copenhagen. Found out about it this evening by pure luck. The beach is kinda right around the corner from our hotel. Since we already did some Sightseeing we decided to take a day off and go to the beach tomorrow.

Bedbugs, that's just nasty.  And the other place just sound like really really bad customer service. I'd be sure to file complaints for both places AND make sure to tell your story on their facebook/trustpilot pages.

Back home. Driving in Germany is so... errm... "non laid back" compaired to Denmark. Traffic jams, roadworks, rudeness everywhere. /sigh

@Fizzle
I did. booking.com gave me a 10% discount but couldn't do anything else. Zleep Hotels didn't even reacted on my mails yet. And the hotel in Odense... bad luck I guess. You can't really blame the hotel as bedbugs spread by crawling into luggage of guests... but still it's nasty. I will complain in my booking.com reviews ;)

@Hanza
Hehe, I am too "german" for that, but I kinda like the idea :D

Short summary:
We had just two rainy days - both were travelling days so that was perfect. The other days were sunny or a mixture of sun/clouds. The hotel in Aalborg was just 100m away from my daughters student flat - great for moving stuff. I had less time for sightseeing, being at the beach etc. than I hoped :( but on the other hand I lost my feeling for time/date really fast and didn't thought of my work etc. - so that's a big plus.

Even shorter summary:
I need more vacation.

:p
