Ultimate bodyguard / block machine
« on: 23 February, 2011, 07:16:54 PM »

the idea behind this build is to be there and block as much as possible as well as bodyguarding someone... eventually ending up absorbing domage for the whole group :) which is totally insane :D

yup, i thaught about this one too... actually it s the one i builded at the begining... but i found out that duality of mind from the paragon gives you basically an almost permanent extra 5% block + the predictable mouvement that makes you almost untouchable in  close combat ... not sure tho weather you take the domage or not :s

actually i found a very very nice defensive combo ... as surprising as it can sound the Paladin peirs very well with the Paragon.

" this bend like the reed" would give a paladin a 75% chance to parry for 10 sec... adding the 25+% chance of blocking that the pally already has it doesn t left many chance to be hitten... and you have 10 sec to build up another 3 charges and start again + every 50seconds the 100% block ability from the pal... that looks nasty !!

one of the huge differences here is that one is talking "here and now spec" the other "lvl 50 spec"
I would guess at 50 everything will look different and that classes might get more set into roles - at least in raids.. but you never know and ofcause the expert dungeons could be met with some inventiveness and so on.

right, but when we talk about tanking, a fact is that you need tools to :

1 generate and keep agro /gather the mobs :P
2 high defense to lower the pressure on your healer at best

this is universal, if you are not able to do it properly and someone else with better spec/skill can do it then ur screwed.
ofc both points are important and i put  point one as a priority because if mobs are running around in the middle of your group slaughtering everyone you will not be able to tank anything anymore :P
secondary point is important, as if your healer can't keep you up the situation describe above will happen anyway :D

ofc i reckon i could have done better in the tanking in BK and spec is not the only difference. player skills also is to be taken into account. but if you lack the tools, you need more skills to be able to compete... i just realise that i was not able to gather up the mobs so i need to figure out how to solve this point, either with a new spec or with playing with the tools already existing one the other spec i had :)

when i tanked in DM it was np including the final boss eventho we had a quiete eclectic group.
i see your point tho and agree that their might be room for creativity at 50... but if you fail either one of the point above mentionned you will most likely wipe...  :)
